Sled dog tours, horse-drawn carriage rides, fantastic winter hikes and sledging by day and night on one of the numerous sledging runs make every team event, but also every vacation with family and friends an unforgettable experience. 245 kilometers of cross-country ski trails, over 50 ski tours in the Seefeld region and 7 ski areas guarantee an unforgettable winter vacation.

The ski arena Olympiaregion Seefeld lies at 964m to 2,064m and comprises a total of 7 ski areas with 26 cable cars on a total of 35 kilometres of slopes. Seefeld is one of the medium-sized ski areas and offers a lot of fun on the slopes, especially for beginners and advanced skiers.

Mösern

Ideal for families with small children, the small Hinterfeld practice ski lift is 250m from The Penthouse. And directly opposite the ski school and ski rental.

Skigebiet Rosshütte

In the Rosshütte ski area, with the two peaks Seefelder Joch and Härmelekopf, all skiers, carvers and snowboarders will have fun. Beginners and advanced skiers will find ski slopes and ski tours of all levels of difficulty, off-piste, deep snow and freeride areas.

In the 360m long fun park “Crazy Hole” with quarter pipes, supersize steep curves, double waves and large airbags, snowboarders – and freestylers get their money’s worth.

Gschwandtkopf

The Gschwandtkopf is the little brother or little sister of the Rosshütte. A small and very fine skiing area with exclusively blue pistes. Due to its north-facing location, the Gschwandkopf usually guarantees great snow conditions even late in the season.

Katzenkopf Leutasch

A nice change from Rosshütte and Gschwandtkopf is offered by the small ski area of Leutasch with a total of 3 ski lifts, 25 minutes by car from Mösern.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the slopes, the hut and the toboggan run are also open and illuminated at night and invite you to go night skiing. Leutasch also has some beautiful winter hiking tours for non-skiers and winter hikers.

Just for the sake of completeness, the Geigenbühel and Birkenlift in Seefeld, each with 4 lifts (blue slopes), should be mentioned for children and absolute beginners.

Due to its high plateau location (over 1,000 m above sea level), the Seefeld region is an Eldorado for cross-country skiers and one of the most attractive cross-country skiing areas in Austria. Thanks to a resource-saving 6,000 cubic meter snow reservoir, which was opened in 2015, cross-country skiing starts as early as the end of November. A total of 245 perfectly groomed kilometers of trails await all cross-country skiers, from hobby athletes to professionals.

The trails are open daily from 9:00h to 16:00h, Monday to Friday from 17:00h to 21:00h the night trails are also open. Ticket prices

Find here below a small selection of medium difficulty, both classic and skating trails near The Penthouse:

B12 – 300m from The Penthouse, Am Bichl, here starts the B12 feeder trail for classic cross-country skiers & skaters (length: 1.0 km, altitude difference: 23 m), which connects Mösern with the region’s trail network.
B1 – Mösern – Seefeld – classic & skating (length: 5.5 km, altitude difference: 110 m), one of the most beautiful and popular training trails in Seefeld, groomed with artificial snow if required. Entry at the Seefelder Kirchl or from The Penthouse even easier at the parking Seewaldalm.
B10 – Lake Mösern – classic & skating (length: 2.5 km, altitude difference: 96 m), from Lake Mösern, through the forests of Mösern to Seefeld, beware of oncoming traffic! Can be skied in both directions. Start at Lake Möser or at the parking Seewaldalm.
B13 – Lake Lotten & Lake Mösern – classic & skating (length: 2.9 km, altitude difference: 97 m), relaxed, scenic and sunny loop from Lake Möserer to LAke Lotten, refreshments available at Möserer Seestub’n, Lottenseehütte and Wildmoosalm. Beware of oncoming traffic!

The 10 „most beautiful“ cross-country ski trails in and around Seefeld:

Night trails:

A1 – (length: 3 km, altitude difference: 19 m), an easy cross-country trail for skaters and classic cross-country skiers, sunny during the day, a snow-making system ensures good snow conditions; parking options at the WM Halle or at the Seefeld Sports Arena below the WM Skisprung Turm (both parking areas with electric charging station).

Night skiing

Rosshütte / Seefeld

Every Friday from 18.30h to 21.30h there is night skiing on the lower Härmelekopf run in the Rosshütte ski area. Please find here further information.

Katzenkopf / Leutasch

Even three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and every Saturday, the slopes at Katzenkopf in Leutasch are open from 18.00h to 20.00h. The Katzenkopfhütte is open until 22.00h and offers good food.

Sledging at night

The sledging run on the Katzenkopf is also open and illuminated every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and invites night owls.

Cross-country skiing at night

Cross-country skiers (skaters and classic cross-country skiers) also get their money’s worth at night on the A1 trail between Seefeld and Mösern. The trail is 3 km long and not demanding. A snow-making system ensures good snow conditions; parking facilities at the World Cup Hall or at the Seefeld Sports Arena below the World Cup Ski Jumping Tower (both parking areas with electric charging station).

Sledging

Only a few minutes by car from The Penthouse, there are many very diverse sledging runs in and around Mösern and Seefeld. We have also tried to select the “most beautiful” ones for you. Whether it’s a team event or a family outing, fun is always guaranteed when tobogganing. Nice places to stop for refreshments are also available on most of the slopes.

Hämmermoosalm sledge run

The Hämmermoosalm toboggan run is a family sledge run with an easy ascent; 25 minutes by car from The Penthouse, 2km long run, 196 metres altitude difference, refreshments available: at Hämmermoosalm; More information about the sledge run..

Reitherjoch Alm Seefeld/Reith

The natural sledge run Reitherjoch Alm Seefeld/Reith is a picturesque and at the same time challenging forest toboggan run with a sporty ascent and a sporty descent over 2.5km in length and 290 meters in altitude; 10 minutes by car from The Penthouse, starting point is the Rosshütte ground station; Restaurant option: Reitherjochalm, one of our favorite huts in Seefeld, very cozy, not too big and with a great view.

Sledge run Rauthhütte

Sledge run Rauthhütte (Start: Leutasch – Moos 7); a beautiful, challenging sledge run for experienced tobogganers, with a very cosy hut; 15 minutes away from The Penthouse by car; 1 hour ascent, 420 meters in altitude, 3km long, stop for refreshments after the ascent in the Rauthhütte; Good shoes recommended!; Tel.: +43 664 2815611

Katzenkopfhütte/Seewald

Natural sledge run (Starting point: Leutasch, Weidach 381c); 13 minutes by car from The Penthouse, the sledge run is suitable for all ages, 40 minutes ascent, if you prefer a more comfortable ride, you can also take the mountain railway up; the run is 2.5 km long, covering a total of 250 meters in altitude; you can stop for refreshments at the Katzenkopfhütte or at the Kreithalm; Tel: +43 5214 6219; More information.

Kreidegraben

The Kreidegraben natural toboggan run is 40 minutes by car from The Penthouse, (starting point: Scharnitz, Hinterautalstraße 555b), After a 45 min ascent, a great nature experience awaits you on a very quiet route with a length of 1km, over 200 meters in altitude; There are no refreshment stops; More info on the route: tel.:+43 050 880 540

A varied, very entertaining alternative programme, ideal for corporate events, management offsites and family outings or outings with friends are horse-drawn sleigh or carriage rides.

We have made a pre-selection of our favorite winter hiking tours for you here. Especially popular with all non-winter sports enthusiasts or suitable for those who want to take a break from skiing or cross-country skiing or if the snow is not so great. The tours are all easy to moderately difficult and are ideal for family outings. They are also highly recommended as an activity for your company event or for team excursions at management offsites. A stop for a bite to eat afterwards is also a must.

Ropferhof excursion

Winter hiking trail from Mösern to the Ropferstub’m in the Ropferhof: directly from The Penthouse via the Broch path and the Pirschsteig trail to the Lottenseehütte and from there on to the Ropferstub’m. (Length: 4.6km, metres in altitude: 140hm, duration 1:20h + return), more information.

Triendlsägen tour

Circular hike from the centre of Seefeld to the Triendlsäge forest inn and back. Start at the Parish Church of St. Oswald, to Geigenbühel and after a small loop through the forest to the Triendlsäge country inn and back. (Length: 6.9km, altitude difference: 150m; duration: 2:15h, further infos.

Around the Brunschkopf

Winter round hiking trail directly from Mösern around the Brunschkopf, from the Möserer See via the Wildmoosalm to the Lottenseehütte, the Pirschsteig and the Broch Weg back to the Möserer See – with a running time of 4 hours one of the longest tours selected by us with numerous refreshment stops (length: 12km, altitude difference: 250hm, duration 4:00h). Up to the Katzenloch (cat hole)

Winter round hikung through the Katzenloch; 13 minutes from The Penthouse by car, we start at the Rödlach car park in Moos, through the Katzenloch, to Buchen, whoever likes to the small Tyrolean mountain farm museum in the Ropferhof and to the Muggenmoos Alm, back to Moos. (Length: 7.1km, altitude difference: 140m, duration: 2:30h). Further information.

Up to the Gaistalalm

Winter hike to the Gaistalalm. Start at the Salzbach car park just 25 minutes from The Penthouse, along a beautiful route up to the Gaistalalm (length: 4.1km, altitude difference: 137m, duration: 1:30h + the same way back). More info.

Winter hike to the Wettersteinhütte

There is another beautiful, somewhat longer and more strenuous alternative to the Gaistalalm in the Gaistal. The starting point is the Stupfer car park in Gaistal, just under 20 minutes from The Penthouse. From there it’s a somewhat steeper climb at first, then up the hiking trail to 1717m to the Wettersteinhütte. (Length: 4.1km, difference in altitude: 510m, duration: 2:30h + return). 4-day tour through the Leutasch Valley

A very special 4-day winter hiking tour on various dates between January and the beginning of March through the Leutasch Valley past Seefeld and Mösern is offered by the Seefeld Tourism Association. You can find all the information here.

Skiing area Rosshütte

Härmelekopf mountain station (tour across the slope)

A medium-difficult ski tour from the Rosshütte valley station to the Härmelekopf mountain station, (Distance: 3.9km, Duration: 2:10h. Altitude difference: 840hm; Difficulty: medium); Ascent: from the Rosshütte valley station in Seefeld. More information.

Seefelder Joch (2060m)

Alternatively, from the Rosshütte valley station, take the forest ascent directly to the Rosshütte and on to the Seefelder Joch (route: 4.6km, duration: 1:50h. Altitude difference: 520hm; difficulty: easy); Further information.

Seefelder Spitze (2221m)

Some might want to walk another 40 minutes to the Seefelder Spitze and enjoy the view over the Karwendel to the Mieminger chain. (Distance: 10km, Duration: 2:30h. Altitude: 970hm; Difficulty: medium); More details.

Hochangerbahn Bergstation (1520m)

Last but not least, there is another easy ascent to the Hochangerbahn mountain station (route: 4.3km, duration: 1:20h. Altitude difference: 280m; difficulty: easy); ascent: also from Seefeld/Rosshütte valley station;
A very special highlight is the night ascent by floodlight every Friday at 18:30-21.30h.

Leutasch

Hohe Munde (2592m)

Challenging tour to the round summit of the Hohe Munde; (route: 8.6km, duration: 3:15h. Altitude difference: 1420hm; difficulty: medium); Starting point: Leutasch/Moos, former skiing lift of the Mundelifts – 15 minutes by car from The Penthouse. Details.

Rauthhütte (1605 m)

Opposite the Hohe Munde, an easy tour, also suitable for children and beginners, leading to the Rauthhütte; (route: 3.6km, duration: 1:15h. Scharnitz

Pleisenhütte (1757 m) und Pleisenspitze (2569 m)

A comfortable little longer half-day ski tour to the Pleisenhütte is rewarded with a breathtaking view from the Pleisenhütte. Ascent from Scharnitz/car parking Wiesenhof in the Isar valley, just under 25 minutes from The Penthouse (route: 14.6km, duration: 3h. Altitude difference: 821hm; difficulty: medium); The descent via forest and hiking trails is less spectacular. Details.

Sledge dog tour at the Lottensee

If you are looking for a very unique experience for your team, your colleagues, your family or your friends, a dog sledge tour could be just the right thing for you.

At the Lottensee, only 6 minutes by car from The Penthouse, surrounded by the Seefeld mountains, you steer your husky team through the winterly dream scenery. An experience you will never forget.
